FAQ's
Creating
a website can be a little overwhelming, so we have listed some of the more
common questions we are asked and our answers. You should also check out our
help centre
for more instructions and tutorials.
I received the download file. Now what? Your
template packages comes to you as a single zipped file. You will need
a utility program such as WinZip to unzip the file and extract the files inside
into a new folder. We recommend you extract the files to your desktop
so they are easy to find. You can them move them to your "My Webs" folder
when you are finished.
When I unzipped with WinZip all I see is a bunch of
files in the folder. Now what? The most current versions of WinZip
(9+) need to have the "Use folder names" option checked on the Extract dialogue.
We recommend you delete the first attempt, and start again, making sure the
"use folder names" option is checked when you get to the extract dialogue.
How do I open the template? Once you
have copied the unzipped web folder to My Documents / My Webs, simply open
FrontPage and go to File > Open Site (FP2003) or File > Open Web (FP2002)
and navigate to your new web folder. Double-click on the web folder and then
click OK. Your new web will open in FrontPage.
I'm new to FrontPage. Are the templates hard to use?
If you are new to FrontPage, there may be a bit of a learning curve. But we
do our best to make the templates as easy as possible to use. If you find
you are running into trouble, we will do our best to get you back on track.
While we can't teach you FrontPage, we will point you in the right direction.
If you require additional tutorial time we do offer Counseling and Tutorial
time at a rate of $60.00 per hour (1 hour min). Feel free to contact us for
more details.
Can I add new pages? Absolutely! You can
add as many pages as you need by either copying an existing page or going
to File > Save As and saving the page with a new name. Complete instructions
are included in your template package.
Can I change the colors or images? Not
all templates are designed so that the colors and/or images can be easily
changed. If they are, this information will be included within the template
information. All small sample images used within the template can be easily
replaced with your own. We offer custom design services if you need major
template changes. In some cases we will release the template in PSD (Photoshop)
format for those that request.
How do I change the "Your Name Here"? If
the Your Name Here is added to a graphic image, we supply you with a blank
image. You can open your favorite imaging program (Photoshop, Paint Shop Pro,
etc.) and add your text to the blank image and then save it into your web's
Images Folder. Now replace our sample with your own. If the Your Name Here
is plain text, locate the header.htm page within the Includes folder and replace
our text with your own. More detailed are included in your template package.
In the case of "special" fonts, if the font we have used is not a common computer
font we will often include the ttf file in the package.
Can I change the font sizes, colors, margins, etc?
While we do not recommend you purchase any template package with the intention
of heavily modifying it, you may wish to make some minor changes to the text
size, font colors, table cell colors, etc. All of these changes (and more)
can be made in one place....in the CSS file. If you are familiar with
CSS, you will find this extremely easy and convenient. You do not have
to edit each page by adding bulky or redundant HTML coding. If you are
new to CSS, we offer full customer support and will be happy help you with
your changes. If you require extensive CSS modification, we offer this service
in our template modification section.
Some of your templates have been removed.
Can I still buy them? From time to time, we remove our older items
to make room for new products. Before an item is scheduled to be deleted
from our catalog, we will normally place it in our "Last Chance" section for
a month or two. If an item is no longer featured on any of our catalogue
pages, we do not offer it for sale again.
Can I copy my template to someone else's computer?
Your user agreement license grants you permission to use the theme and template
package on multiple computers as necessary to complete the design of a
single web site. You cannot copy or resell the template or offer
it on your site as a downloadable file. You are instructed to make one
copy for backup purposes only.
As a web designer, can I use the template for
a client's site? Yes! Many designers buy our templates because
they save both time and money. However, you cannot claim the design
as your own and cannot resell the template package. Any charges passed
on to your client should reflect the time you took in creating the site.
Can I change or remove the sitedesign copyright
from the template? Yes and No! As a courtesy we would love
for you to keep the link on the site. However if you choose to remove it we
understand. But, you may not change the wording if you choose to keep it.
That is to say, if you are building the site for someone else and you want
to say site design © 2006 yoursite.com, you may not. You may however say site
developed by yoursite.com.
Can I please use your free templates on my commercial
site? While we are very flattered that you like our free offerings,
they are for evaluation purposes only. You may use the free templates
on your own computer in order to test and learn more about FrontPage features,
but they are not allowed to be published to a web server. We have watermarked
the template extensively.
I have not received my download information email.
What now? When you order through PayPal, we need to verify the order...and
then we will send out the product to you via the email you used when you ordered
the item through PayPal. If for some reason you have not received your package
within 24 hours, please be sure the email address you have at PayPal is current.
Also important to note...many email providers allow you to "Junk" email
from people you do not know. Please check your "Junk Mail" folder and be sure
your package has not gone in to that folder.
How do I redesign site? It is very large.
Whether you are beginning your site from scratch or are redesigning an existing
site with multiple pages, you must create a new web site using the provided
web template. You would then need to create your new pages (File > New
> Web) and then copy and paste the information from your old web into your
new one. While this may be time consuming, it is not difficult, and
is well worth the effort.
Will you replace my template if my computer
crashes? We cannot urge you strongly enough to make a backup copy
of anything which you purchase online from any vendor. Save the original
downloaded file to a floppy disk, a zip drive, or to a CD. Label the
disk with the appropriate information so you can retrieve your files in case
of a hard drive crash. If you have already published your web to your host's
server, you can publish your site back to your local machine. This will
replace the web on your computer, but not the original template. If
you purchased your template package within the last 30 days, send us your
invoice number, date of purchase, and name of the template and we will happily
send you a free replacement.
